Optimizing Hypergraph-Based Polynomials Modeling Job-Occupancy in Queuing with Redundancy Scheduling

چکیده
We investigate two classes of multivariate polynomials with variables indexed by the edges a uniform hypergraph and coefficients depending on certain patterns unions edges. These arise naturally to model job-occupancy in some queuing problems redundancy scheduling policies. The question, posed Cardinaels, Borst, van Leeuwaarden [Redundancy Scheduling Locally Stable Compatibility Graphs, arXiv preprint, 2020], is decide whether their global minimum over standard simplex attained at probability distribution. By exploiting symmetry properties these we can give positive answer for first class partial results second one, where fact show stronger convexity property simplex.

Optimizing User Oriented Job Scheduling within TORQUE
We presents major extension of the widely used TORQUE Resource Manager. Unlike common resource managers that use queuing approach, our solution uses planning (job schedule construction) and schedule optimization in order to achieve better predictability, performance and fairness with respect to common queue-based approaches. Moreover, additional important features are supported, e.g., so called...
متن کاملOnline Job Scheduling with Redundancy and Opportunistic Checkpointing: A Speedup-Function-Based Analysis
In a large-scale computing cluster, the job completions can be substantially delayed due to two sources of variability, namely, variability in the job size and that in the machine service capacity. To tackle this issue, existing works have proposed various scheduling algorithms which exploit redundancy wherein a job runs on multiple servers until the first completes. In this paper, we explore t...
متن کاملOptimizing Static Job Scheduling in a Network of Heterogeneous Computers
This paper investigates static job scheduling schemes that distribute workload in a network of computers with different speeds. Static schemes involve very low overhead and complexity compared to dynamic schemes, but can still provide significant performance improvement over the case of no load balancing. Optimization techniques are proposed for workload allocation and job dispatching. Workload...
متن کاملCustomer Order Scheduling with Job-Based Processing and Lot Streaming In A Two-Machine Flow Shop
This paper considers a customer order scheduling (COS) problem in which each customer requests a variety of products processed in a two-machine flow shop. A sequence-independent attached setup for each machine is needed before processing each product lot. We assume that customer orders are satisfied by the job-based processing approach in which the same products from different customer orders f...
متن کاملOptimizing Job Reliability Through Contention-Free, Distributed Checkpoint Scheduling
A datacenter that consists of hundreds or thousands of servers can provide virtualized environments to a large number of cloud applications and jobs that value the requirement of reliability very differently. Checkpointing a virtual machine (VM) is a proven technique to improve reliability. However, existing checkpoint scheduling techniques for enhancing reliability of distributed systems have ...
